Trying to be...
2003-08-12 - 8:50 a.m. Slept like shit last night. I think it was that "oh man, I'm going back to work" kind of thing, though I don't consciously remember thinking about work at all. I hate that. When you know its late, and you keep looking at the clock thinking "c'mon, you know you are tired, just fall to sleep already!". I'm sure I dozed off a bunch of times, but each time I would look at the clock I would think "I've just been laying here, wide awake since the last time I looked at the clock 45 minutes ago". But in reality, 45 minutes is a long long time, so I doubt that I was just lying there that whole time (and you know, I still after all these years get confused about the lay/lie conjugation. Forgive me). But still I'm up and at 'em this morning. Got my lunch fixed for the day, my library books to return (about 9,346 of my "wish list" books came in while I was on vacation. Fingers crossed they held them for me until today), and my gym clothes so I can stop at Curves on my way in to the office. I have to work until 8pm tonight, so let's see how gung ho I am this afternoon. D is taking this new baby-making devotion to a whole new level. He was so freaking funny last night. He got really really tired early on, and as he was falling asleep he whispered "I'm too tired to make a baby....I promise in the morning". Which read like that sounds totally unromantic and awful, but if you could have seen the look on his face, you would have been just as amused as I was. I said "sweetie, don't worry about it...after all, this is supposed to be *fun*, remember?" And off he drifted. This morning the alarm goes off, and like a drill sargent he says "Alright missy - let's get to work here!". We both started cracking up hysterically. I said "oh, the romance never ends" and he said "what? This isn't romantic?" and we continued to laugh for several more minutes. But in the end, the naked laughing did its magic, and suddenly we were both up to task. I said "you know, we do have to make sure that this stays fun, honey" and he said "You didn't think that was fun?" with a goofy silly look on his face. And you know what? It was fun....even if on the written page it doesn't sound like it was.
